Parent Teacher Student Association
Is a self-governing unit, chartered by the Georgia PTA and part of the National PTA, which plans its programs and activities to meet the needs of children and youth in the local school community.
For more than a 100 years, Parent Teacher Association (PTA) has provided support, information and resources to families focused on the health and education of children. The organization was founded in 1897 in Washington DC as the National Congress of Mothers by Alice McLellan Birney and Phoebe Apperson Hearst. If not for these women and their vision and determination, there would not be a PTA—an organization that has been woven into the very fabric of American life.
By whatever name it has been known, National PTA was created to meet a profound challenge: to better the lives of children. And today, it continues to flourish because PTA has never lost sight of its goal: to change the lives of children across our great nation for the better.

Honoring Our Heroes
Honoring Our Heroes (HOH) is a student writing program that was developed in 1995 by the ECCC of PTAs. The program was designed for students to write about their real-life heroes and role models. We want students to redefine media-hyped and cartoon heroes such as professional athletes, movie stars, and rock musicians, and instead, recognize someone who has made a more personal impact on their life such as a family member, doctor, public safety officer, soldier, or teacher. Below are links to all the resources you need for your school to have a successful HOH program.
This year’s theme is “Everyday Heroes: The Power of One”
We are excited to kick off the 2016-2017 Honoring Our Heroes Essay program! Honoring Our Heroes is a writing program that encourages students to discover, honor, and write about real life heroes, role models displaying generosity, trust, persistence, dedication, leadership, creativity, caring, bravery, imagination, service, gentleness, courage or compassion. What a great opportunity to honor someone who may not even know what a difference they are making in your student’s life !Essays may be turned in at the Front Office. Thursday, February 16, 2017 is the deadline for all essay submissions.
